Christina had been on the gaining and losing weight merry-go-round for many years. She would have success, and then in a short time, put the weight back on again.
The first half of 2018 wasn’t going well for Christina. She experienced a health issue which caused a decrease her physical activity, as well as dealing with declining health of her much-loved father. Christina wasn’t focusing on what she was eating, which led her to put on more weight. She was starting to feel that she was never going to be able to get off the merry-go-round.
Christina discovered the Get Healthy program via a story on Facebook. She decided to make contact by call 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) to start the journey to a healthier lifestyle.
Together with her health coach, she identified a goal to lose weight - by eating healthy and being more active – and taking small, but continuous steps on her journey.
“I was eating a lot of bread, pasta, cakes and not much salad or fruit. It was important for me to understand portion sizes, aim to eat a wide variety of food types, add more vegetables and pulses (e.g. lentils) and eat less drinks and cereals containing sugar.”
Simple changes that Christina made included making delicious and filling salads to take to work for lunch, using the stairs instead of the lift, and over time, regularly walking her dogs.
“It’s taken about 6 months, but I’ve managed to lose 15kg and 17cm off my waist. The regular support calls from my health coach were wonderful. If I was losing motivation, she would encourage me to keep going. I now have the knowledge and confidence to stay on track. I’m loving my healthier life.”
